The Chobe River and its lush floodplains form the northern boundary of Chobe National Park and are the park's lifeblood. The water naturally draws an abundance of wildlife and provides a beautiful scenic backdrop, especially at sunrise and sunset. Lodges take advantage of wildlife congregating on the water's edge by providing boat cruises along the Chobe River. Here it is common to see enormous herds of elephants, basking crocodiles and hippos.  The riverfront supports Botswana’s only population of puku (an antelope that is rarely seen on safari).
